Your lip balm alone won’t make any difference. We’ve been practicing that 10-step skincare routine but our lips are being left out in the corner. Our precious lips need care like any other part of our body.
Let’s face it, having that perfect kissable red lips are not that easy to achieve. I have been practicing on taking good care of mine too. Believe me, it took a very long process to finally get some small results. But hey, results are still good progress, right?
Why are my lips dry?
Do you peel your lips until it bleed like I do? It hurts but I can’t really help it. Your lips are dry because they laclk moisture. The weather can be a major factor for it too. We have this common knowledge that licking it will help. BUT IT DOESN’T! Your saliva strips the natural moisture causing your lip to dry even more.
My lips are not that dry but dark…
Medical factors or your lifestyle may be the root of the darkened lips. Too much exposure in the sun, lack of hydration, smoking, and too much caffeine (yes, you coffee addict) can cause the hyperpigmentation.
So, here are some remedies and product to say goodbye to your chapped or dark lips!
LEMON AND SUGAR
Perfect before bedtime! Cut the lemon in half and dip it in white sugar. Gently rub it onto your lips. Next morning, rinse it with tap water.
Strawberry may look like a cute fruit to you but it will definitely help you with your dilemma. Make a paste by crushing a small amount of strawberries. Add two tablespoon of baking soda and gently apply it on your lips. Do this before bedtime then rinse it with lukewarm water the next day.
I have been doing this one for a year now. I just simply brush my lips. Not too harsh for it will just create more damage. After brushing, tap clean cloth on lips and put a lip balm. I do this every night.
If you have vitamin E there, just simply cut it in half and apply it on your lips. We know vitamin E is good for the skin. It will generate new cells and make your lips softer.
Laneige Special Care Lip Sleeping Mask
Now this one is a little bit pricey, but what you pay is what you get. The hyaluronic acid used on this lip mask provides the lip intense moisture. It will also help the lip out of dehydration in the long run.
DRINK YOUR WATER.
(chug that 2L a day!)
Lastly, this one. I know you’re too fed up with everyone saying drinking water is the best cure here. I learned it the hard way too but trust me, dehydration is the cause of your chapped lips and water is your companion here.
